One fateful safari in the Moharli core zone of Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (also known as TATR) in Maharashtra, we came across the famous tigress Collarwali taking a nap while her subadult cubs frolicked all around us. After splashing around in water, leaping up to high logs and playing tag in the grass, the tigress cubs started pestering mom to go on a walk. After some time, Collarwali finally gave in and the family walked towards us on the dirt track.

TATR remains one of the world's best places to spot Bengal Tigers in the wild. Legendary, bold tigers and tigresses like Collarwali, Bijli, Choti Tara, Chota Matka, Chota Dadhiyal, Choti Madhu, and Mowgli nearly guarantee sightings, in both buffer and core zones.
